And run a glum play

One kid’s journey starts
Private school and college paid
Best gift we can give

They hid us for years
Then the new guy turned on lights
And spoke our language

The minutes connect
Letting the day skip the gaps
Raincheck, pretty please

Start tasks and still fail
Diversions catching my eye
A tour through neglect

The day’s plans thwarted
A museum and dive bar
Were lovely stand-ins

The days are askew
With my partner pulled away
Grip random pop-ins

Why do I feel guilt
Sneaking outside during work
When work ignores time?

As the weights crashed down
The bolt swung freely above
Jostling my day’s stride
