Yesterday’s food turned
My stomach rose to battle

For a small time slice
Our chatter hushes the noise
Neighbors break the plane

Colbert and Kimmel
Silenced by the dictator
More rights tossed aside

The Apple update
Blocked out political strife
Because it’s pretty

They grant permission
With “both sides” and “bad Dems” takes
The news cycle breaks

After booking trains
Talk moved to reading fiction
Our call ends, books next

Walked the other way
Hoping for inspiration
It was bland and hot

The venom queued up
And picked Friday to bite me
Can’t silence the hiss

We bend time at will
Blurring the nineties and now
Our moments return
