I defend my face
From cat claws through the blanket
Stonewalling my nap

Words fuel our steps
As we loop around the lake
Practiced for decades

Our dim President
Flips through multiple stories
Blundering their “facts”

Sunday plays its trick
Confiscating the weekend
Leaves us with Monday

The a/c mutters
During classic movie night
Brewing for four years

Writing their stories
As they launch into what’s next
Forging their journey

Backyard to steak house
After a Resy mishap
Chatter is the same

Perched next to stillness
Snagging a book and my cat
When time paused its chase

Passing notes like school
With productivity tools
And get paid for it
