I found it baffling

Until it was mine

It’s reconnect day
Using basic texts and calls
Quash too many miles

Our yardwork toiling
Followed by a slacking binge
In the spring sun’s flare

Bits land on the page
While clips spill into white space
That the clock buries

He’s a frantic blur
Until vacation mode wins
We snatch the work keys

I picked up a call
To ear-shattering swearwords
Midday entertainment

Our normal steps up
Cat is clearly in cahoots
Traps me on the couch

Her feral comment
Catapulted at our team
Nope, that will not stand

We changed Monday’s plans
We yell wrong trivia takes
From our snuggly couch
