Two friends then one more
Popped up in line at Target
Like karma just knew

The cat talks all night
But then sleeps during the day
Dreaming of more words

With a suitcase packed
And the cats presents opened
Holidays now end

Friday whitewashes
The sins of the week’s mayhem
And pours a cocktail

A bit of chaos
And lots of help from the clock
Now we walk away

The cat stops her grudge
With claws dug into my skin
Is there middle ground?

Many weeks of work
Breezed through in a few minutes
Corporate junk food

Wrote haiku at work
It’s one thing to write and flinch
Now they will be read

Our Uptown streets pinched
Shrunk by unplowable snow
Thanks traffic calming
