As I fled the workday’s woes
Like its own soundtrack

With dry-food ignored
The cat eyes up the fried rice
Thinks it’s a cat bowl

Twelfth-grade parent night
A rerun from the first kid
Finish line feels close

The “lock her up” crowd
Is now “but he’s running” group
Scorn for the law holds

Through the clock’s worn path
The hushed day tiptoed slowly
Monday tried to hide

Our local art fair
Kindly drops our friends nearby
Life pauses, we chat

The Uptown Art Fair
Brings back my much-loved artist
I wear her journey

On a Friday night
A few text conversations
Undoes the workweek

My day took a turn
With a chaotic spreadsheet
Filled my screen with yuck

Thoughts scurried about
Fought back with pen and paper
They jumped off the page
