Digging through emails
In dusty to-do folders
I’ve evolved, be gone

Covid strikes again
Leaving kids to run the house
Groceries have flair

Smoke is on its way
May swarm our city for days
Bane of this summer

Covid hid from us
While persistently waiting
Today it broke through

Throughout the workday
The kids hung out and went out
I played the adult

We see what’s inside
After the indictment wait
Like Christmas morning

The nasty sickness
Divides our house into zones
Let’s see if it works

We summarize years
Sharing Homer-esque journeys
But it’s still just us
