Friday hides behind the week
And pelts tasks at me

Read an old journal
Still chasing the same ideas
Eighteen years later

When watching old shows
We compare our age to theirs
Feel young but then old

Played in PowerPoint
Left the stodgy work behind
Dove into blank slides

Twenty some years in
We leave Valentines alone
And pick our own day

The stove has one job
But it spits back frosty air
Grateful for backup

Friday martinis
With my work partner in crime
This week demands it

Far right and far left
Seem to ignore elections
When they disagree

Our daily struggle
To find a tasty lunch
Blame our planful friend
